We believe our seniors should be honored, loved, respected and cared for. And we’re dedicated to supporting seniors in St. Louis, however they may need us. Northside Youth And Senior Service Center provides for their basic needs and offers assistance and companionship to a vulnerable, yet often overlooked, population.
Our programs support the nutritional, health, safety and transportation needs of St. Louis seniors.
Food and Nutrition
A hot meal is one of the most basic of human needs, but seniors often struggle to meet daily nutritional needs. Our Meals on Wheels and Congregate Meals programs provide healthy, nutritious meals to seniors in St. Louis every weekday, whether they can gather with us at the Center or are homebound and need to have it delivered.
Need a ride? Our Transportation Program provides safe and dependable rides to seniors and people with disabilities within the St. Louis City limits. These services help seniors and people with disabilities remain independent and ensure they can make it to doctor’s appointments, social gatherings and shopping trips.
Health and Safety
Health and safety risks increase with age, but we’re here to help. Our Senior Fitness Program provides guided fitness classes to prevent muscle loss and improve balance. And our Fall Prevention program works to lower the risk of falls due to the mixing of certain medications. Plus, we’ll screen seniors for common geriatric conditions.
A Safety Net for Seniors
Along with each of the programs above, we also connect seniors with community and federal resources that they may need. Northside Youth and Senior Service Center supports access to education, counseling services, and other health services to our seniors. We serve as a safety net to ensure these basic needs do not go unnoticed or unmet in the low-income neighborhoods we serve.
