There’s a lot to do at Northside Youth and Senior Service Center! Explore each of our programs for youth and seniors to find the best fit for you and your family. All programs are free for eligible participants.

Programs for Kids and Teens

All students 5-17 years old are welcome at our Computer Club. At this after school program, students can find supervised access to the internet for schoolwork and educational games, as well as homework help and other fun and educational activities. We meet in the computer lab at the Center every school day from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
Peabody After School Program
The Striving to Achieve Results (STAR) after school program at Peabody Elementary School offers students fun and educational activities that support what they learn in the classroom. The program is only available to students at Peabody Elementary School and takes place at the school from 3:00 – 6:00 pm each school day.
After school lets out for the year each summer, we host a fun and educational camp for all children and teens aged 5-17 in St. Louis. It’s a chance for them to explore, make friends, and enjoy both recreational and educational activities.

Meals on Wheels
Our Meals on Wheels program delivers a hot meal to home-bound seniors in St. Louis at lunchtime each weekday. We offer nutritious lunches, as well as options for low sodium, diabetic and other special dietary needs. Learn about the eligibility requirements and how to apply.
The Congregate Meals Program promotes the physical and social well-being of seniors through nutritious meals served in a group setting. Participants are served one noon time meal per day at our Center. All meals meet USDA dietary guidelines, and we are also able to accommodate special dietary needs.
Our Transportation Program provides safe and reliable rides to seniors and people with disabilities within the St. Louis City limits. Our ride services ensure seniors can make it to things like doctor’s appointments, social gatherings and shopping trips. They help St. Louis seniors remain independent for longer.
Senior Fitness Program
Our Senior Fitness Program offers 45-minute fitness classes twice a week at the Center, providing appropriate and targeted physical activities for seniors. Classes are led by experienced fitness leaders trained in geriatric fitness through the St. Louis University physical therapy program.
Fall Prevention Program
Through our Fall Prevention Program, volunteers from St. Louis University School of Medicine visit seniors in their homes to review prescriptions and make recommendations that may lower the risk of falls. During the appointment, seniors can also receive a health screening to identify common conditions and illnesses.
